Adjacency Matrix

Adjacency Matrix chart shows the movement of cards from one board column to the next in visibly bright colors. You can track if the cards are following the entire process, column by column or not. If queues are skipped, it indicates that workflow is not followed, and probably there is scope for process improvement.

The lanes on the board are plotted both, horizontally and veritcally into rows and columns. The horizontal rows indicate the 'From' lane and the vertical column indicates the 'To' Lane. The numbers on a row/column indicate cards leaving a lane (corresponding horizontal row on left) and entered another lane (corresponding vertical column on top).
The colors used in the adjacency matrix are also explained as a legend on the chart.
  • In an ideal situation where cards are flowing from the first lane to the last lane passing through all lanes in a sequence on the board, the matrix shows a same card count (in the yellow squares) adjacent to the diagonal (blue squares). This indicates that the process is followed.
  • A blank square adjacent to the diagonal indicates that cards have skipped a lane. (See below image) More cards dispersed on the right of the diagonal indicates cards have directly entered lanes
  • Number on the left of the diagonal indicates that cards moved backward

If you want to see the list of cards, click the number. On selecting a card from the list, you can view card details in the card pop-up (read-only view). Thus, you can track if the same cards are accounting to the number.

You can select the filter options, as required to view matirx for a specifc date range, card types, and Smart Lane.  The matrix is regenerated based on the selection.
